FAYETTE CO. K-9 UNIT CONFISCATES 11 KILOS OF COCAINE

Fayette County narcotics investigators arrested a South Texas man last week after discovering 11 kilos of cocaine during a traffic stop.
Friday afternoon, shortly before 4:30 p.m., Fayette County Sheriff’s Sergeant Randy Thumann stopped a Chevy Silverado on I-10 at the Flatonia/Smithville exit for a traffic violation.

After speaking with the driver, Sgt. Thumann received consent to search the vehicle and deployed K-9 Kolt, who alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the truck displayed a company name on the door and was staged to appear as a fiber optics company.

Sgt. Thumann, along with Deputy Herman Olvera, removed an estimated $1.1 million worth of cocaine from a compartment in the roof of the vehicle, which authorities said had been modified to conceal narcotics.
The driver, 52-year-old Salvador Noyola of Mission, was taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with Felony Drug Possession.
