A&M REGENTS APPROVE S.E.C. MOVE TO ADD UT & OU

Following a second closed-door meeting in three days, the Texas A&M Board of Regents has voted to support expansion of the SEC.

After two hours of executive session Wednesday, the board released a statement directing President Katherine Banks to vote to extend formal invitations to both the University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma to join the SEC when the conference presidents vote on the matter.

The board approved the measure by a vote of 8-1.

The presidents of the SEC member schools are set to meet today (Thursday) to discuss adding Texas and Oklahoma, which would create college football’s first super conference of 16 teams if both universities were ultimately voted in.
