BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO CONSIDER HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD APPOINTMENTS

  

The Brenham City Council will meet Friday to potentially make appointments to the city’s Historic Preservation Board.

The council will look to appoint five citizens to the board, which is tasked with protecting historic landmarks and properties within the city’s historic districts.  The city received 10 citizen applications to serve on the board.

Two of the seven positions on the board were voted upon by property owners in downtown Brenham.  Jennifer Hermann, owner of Hermann Furniture, and Brad Tegeler, the owner of the building that houses the Downtown Art Gallery on West Alamo Street, were selected for those seats and will serve a three-year term ending in 2024.

The five citizen appointments will draw lots at their first meeting to establish their staggered terms.  Four of them will serve a two-year term, while the fifth will serve for three years.

A minimum of four of the seven board members must be property owners in downtown or the owner of a historic landmark.

The council will meet Friday at 8 a.m. at Brenham City Hall.
