BRENHAM MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR KIDNAPPING, UNLAWFUL RESTRAINT, FAMILY ASSAULT

(Washington Co. Jail)
A Brenham man was sentenced to prison Friday on several charges, including kidnapping, in 21st District Court.
37-year-old Chad Michael Nugent received three two-year sentences for charges stemming from March 27, 2020. Nugent was sentenced on the third-degree felony charges of Kidnapping, Unlawful Restraint Causing Exposure to Serious Bodily Injury, and Assault of a Family Member Impeding Breath or Circulation.
According to an indictment filed in May 2020, Nugent abducted the victim by restricting her movements without consent and held her in a place where she was not likely to be found.
The indictment also charged Nugent with exposing the victim to “substantial risk of serious bodily injury” by kicking and striking her and stomping on her neck. In addition, the indictment accused Nugent of impeding normal breath or circulation by applying pressure to the victim’s throat.
Nugent was booked into the Washington County Jail on May 18, 2020, where he has remained since.
