SCHOOL BUS AIDE KILLED IN HEMPSTEAD ISD BUS CRASH

  

Update @ 12 p.m. Saturday: DPS has identified the bus aide killed in Friday's bus crash in Waller County as 59-year-old Abigail Ragston.

Original Story @ 4:56 p.m. Friday: DPS says a school bus aide was killed and several students were injured after a Hempstead ISD school bus lost control and rolled over this (Friday) afternoon.

According to DPS Sergeant Erik Burse, the one-vehicle accident occurred shortly before 12:15 p.m. on FM 1887, near Holik Road, in Waller County.

Sgt. Burse said six people were aboard the bus, including four students, the driver and the aide.  A female high school student was flown to Memorial Hermann in downtown Houston, while a 9-year-old male and a 6-year-old male were transported by ambulance to Memorial Hermann in Katy.  The fourth student, a 9-year-old female, was unharmed and released to her parents on scene.

The driver of the bus was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hermann in downtown Houston.  The aide was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sgt. Burse said the aide was approximately 59 or 60 years old and lived in Waller County.

Hempstead ISD officials say they are cooperating fully with law enforcement as they continue their investigation.

  1. I was an aide for years and was always second guessing some of the drivers. Over confident, driving to fast, on a deadline. This is horrible. Driving to fast period! Prayers for this person and the children?.
