REGISTRATION OPEN FOR GOVERNMENT-IN-ACTION YOUTH TOUR

Local electric cooperatives are offering high school students an opportunity for an all-expenses-paid trip to the nation’s capital.

Students in the service areas of Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative and San Bernard Electric Cooperative can now apply for the Government-in-Action Youth Tour, set for June 12-21.

Select students will be able to visit Washington, D.C. to see monuments, museums and historical sites while meeting their members of Congress, hearing inspirational speakers and interacting with other Youth Tour participants around the country.

To be eligible, students must either be in the 11th or 12th grade and live in the home of a parent or legal guardian who is a current member of Bluebonnet or San Bernard and whose primary residence is in that co-op’s service territory.

Applications are due to San Bernard Electric Cooperative by January 17th and to Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative by January 21st.

If selected as a finalist by Bluebonnet, students must be available to attend a personal interview on February 7th at 6 p.m. at Bluebonnet’s headquarters in Bastrop.  San Bernard finalists will need to attend an orientation and interview on February 14th at 6 p.m. at San Bernard’s office in Bellville.

Applications are available at www.bluebonnet.coop and www.sbec.org.
