GIESENSCHLAG ELECTED TO BURLESON COUNTY USDA-FSA COUNTY COMMITTEE

  

Robert John “R.J.” Giesenschlag of Snook has been elected as the newest member of the USDA Farm Service Agency County Committee in Burleson County.

Giesenschlag is going to represent Local Administrative Area 3. Milton Charanza Jr. of Caldwell was chosen as the first alternate.

Every FSA office is served by a county committee made up of local farmers, ranchers, and foresters who are elected by local producers. Other members of the committee are Cathy Homeyer and Spencer Wilder.

County Committee members are accountable to the Secretary of Agriculture. They use their knowledge and judgment to help the FSA make important decisions on its commodity support programs, conservations programs, indemnity and disaster programs, emergency programs, and eligibility.

The Committee also assists with outreach and informs underserved producers such as beginning farmers, ranchers, and foresters about FSA opportunities.
