Brenham ISD Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Eliot Allen has accepted a position with a new school district.
Brenham ISD announced this (Thursday) afternoon that Allen has been selected as Director of Athletics for Bastrop ISD. He will begin his new position next week.
Allen was hired by Brenham ISD in April 2018. As football coach, the Brenham Cubs ended their most recent season in the bi-district round of the playoffs, and also finished twice as a regional semi-finalist. He has a career coaching record of 149-74, with a record of 31-16 in Brenham.
During Allen's time as Athletic Director, the Brenham Cubette volleyball team earned trips to the playoffs from 2018-21. Girls soccer went to the playoffs in 2019. Boys track earned fifth in state in 2021, and the swimming program had regional and state qualifiers in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Brenham ISD said Allen “has set high standards for our BISD athletic programs and we are confident we can identify the right person to continue the success he has achieved.”
Brenham ISD will post the position of Athletic Director and Head Football Coach and begin the process of identifying the next person for the role. In the meantime, Clay Gillentine will assume a dual role of acting as the interim Athletic Director while continuing to serve as Brenham ISD’s Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services.
