Officer Grayson Marburger was presented a Chief’s Commendation for his efforts to revive a patient who had fallen unconscious at his home.

Brenham Police Chief Ron Parker said Marburger responded just after 6:30 a.m. on April 21st to a medical assistance call at a home on Twisted Oak Drive.  A woman called 911 and told them that her husband was sitting in a chair when he suddenly fell unconscious and collapsed.

Marburger arrived on scene before EMS and immediately began CPR on the victim, who was unresponsive and not breathing.  EMS arrived shortly afterwards and took over CPR and resuscitation efforts.  After several minutes, EMS reported spontaneous circulation in the patient, and he was taken to the emergency room.  He survived the day and into the evening but, due to other significant health challenges, died that night.

Parker said Marburger’s work helped save the life of the victim, if only for a short time, and allowed the family of the patient to be with him before his passing.

Captain Lloyd Powell said what Marburger did was no small task, and thanked him and all other officers for the work they perform on a daily basis.

Marburger said he is grateful for the support he receives from the police department and the community.
