COVID-19 RELIEF FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR BUSINESSES THROUGH TEXAS TRAVEL INDUSTRY RECOVERY PROGRAM
Local tourism, travel and hospitality businesses that were negatively impacted by COVID-19 are encouraged to apply for relief funding through a new state program.
The Texas Travel Industry Recovery (TTIR) Grant Program was created by Senate Bill 8 during the 87th Legislature’s third special session to administer $180 million in funds received from the Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund.
The program, managed by the Texas Economic Development Office of the Governor, is offering grants of up to $20,000 to help offset losses to qualifying businesses. Those include businesses in arts, entertainment and recreation; food services and drinking places; traveler accommodation; RV parks and recreational camps; traveler arrangement and reservation services; convention and tradeshow organizers; and breweries, wineries and distilleries.
Applications will be accepted in four phases separated by industry group, with the first application timeline open today (Wednesday) through July 31st. If funds remain after the first four phases, a fifth phase will reconsider any unfunded applications to award remaining funds.
A series of webinars will also be offered for specific industry groups to provide more information and answer questions on the program and application process. The first webinar is Tuesday, July 12th from 1 to 2 p.m.
