PUBLIC MEETING ON BRENHAM ISD BOND THURSDAY
The first of two public meetings for residents to learn more about Brenham ISD’s bond propositions is taking place tonight (Thursday).
Beginning at 6 p.m. at Brenham Junior High School, the meeting will allow citizens to walk through junior high facilities and ask questions about the two proposals on this fall’s ballot.
The two propositions facing voters this fall are for the construction of a new junior high school for grades 6-8 and for renovation and expansion of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department.
Proposition A, which contains the new junior high school, costs $111 million and has a projected tax rate increase of $0.1500 per $100 valuation. Proposition B, encompassing the CTE upgrades, is valued at $25 million and would increase the tax rate by an estimated $0.0360 per $100.
The second and final public meeting on the bond is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25th at 6 p.m., also at the junior high school.
Voter registration ends on Tuesday. Early voting begins October 24th and continues through November 4th. Election Day is November 8th.
