45TH ANNUAL LICKSKILLET DAYS THIS WEEKEND IN FAYETTEVILLE
The Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 45th installment of the Lickskillet Days this weekend.
The celebration opens tomorrow (Thursday) with the Lickskillet Queen’s Pageant at 6:30 p.m. in the Fayetteville ISD Cafetorium. Festivities then continue on Saturday and Sunday in downtown Fayetteville with live music, dancing, food, kids’ activities and a parade.
Saturday will feature a street dance with Two Tons of Steel from 7 to 10 p.m. Hamburgers and beverages will be available.
Sunday’s activities begin at 9 a.m. with a country store, baked goods in the old fire station and a silent auction in the courthouse. Kids’ crafts by arts will be offered starting at 10 a.m.
The annual Lickskillet Parade gets underway at 10:45 a.m. Afterwards, barbecue by Peter’s BBQ will be served until 1 p.m. Meal tickets are $15 and can be purchased before the event at Fayetteville Bank, Fayetteville Store, Orsak’s, Joe’s Place and The Wine Bar.
The Fayette Czech Singers and Dancers will perform from noon to 1 p.m. The Lickskillet pageant winners will be introduced on the square at 1 p.m., and that will lead into the popular Skillet Licking Contest at 1:15 p.m. There will also be a live auction beginning at 1:30 p.m.
