COMMISSIONERS COURT HOLDS A ROUTINE MEETING

  

The County Commissioners had a relatively routine meeting Tuesday morning.  They approved the sale of surplus county property through the County’s online auction service, Gov-Deals.  The items consist of mainly old pickup trucks, but with the market up right now, they look at making some money back.  They also approved a continuing education expense for Dustin Majewski. They approved a Memorandum of Understanding between Washington County and Tyler Technologies for the Vetraspect License through June of 2023.  The Texas Veterans Commission does not see eye to eye with Tyler Technologies, but the local Veterans Service Officer, Eric Posern, does not want to enter all of the local cases in the new software.

In other business, Chief Deputy Jay Petrash presented the Sheriff’s monthly report.  Commissioner Candice Bullock asked about the animal calls.  Petrash lamented that the local animal control is often full.  He said they often have pens available, but are short staffed, so they can’t take any more animals.  He said the jail has the same problem with being short staffed.  Commissioner Kirk Hanath said they are offering enough for the job, but no one is applying.

Robin Hood presented the E911 monthly report and Kevin Deramus presented the monthly EMS report.  He stated that the EMS is trying to reduce the number of emergency calls, the kind they respond to with lights and siren, by getting dispatch to specify what calls are emergencies.
