LIQUOR STORES TO CLOSE FOR 61 HOUR PERIOD DURING HOLIDAY WEEKEND
For consumers planning to include liquor in their New Year’s Eve holiday plans, stores are encouraging you to shop early.
Liquor stores in the state of Texas will be closed for a 61-hour period that will run from 9pm on Saturday night until 10am Tuesday morning.
In accordance with Texas Alcoholic Beverages Commission law, liquor stores are normally closed on Sunday.
However, just as with Christmas last week, because New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday this year, the law requires that liquor stores be closed on Monday as well.
Brenham is currently home to four liquor stores; Spec’s Liquor on Highway 290, Topper’s Liquor and Wine on South Market Street, 1844 Liquor Mart on South Park Street, and the recently opened King’s Liquor on North Park Street.
The T.A.B.C., along with other law enforcement agencies, encourage everyone to stay safe, and please drink responsibly this holiday season.
Amen…
Archaic laws that should be changed.
