SALTWATER TREATMENT PLANT BURNS DOWN

Multiple fire departments were dispatched during a severe thunderstorm late last (Wednesday) night after a lightning strike caught the salt water treatment plant south of Clay on fire.

Prairie Hill Fire Chief Doyle Dahmann said the call came in at 11:17pm for a reported structure fire. 

Fire Departments from Prairie Hill, Snook, Somerville, and Meyersville arrived on the scene to find multiple tanks and buildings on fire.

Dahmann said that lightning struck a hydrocarbon storage tank, which caused the fire. 

Firefighters battled the flames for over four hours, but entire facility was a loss.

Assisting the Firefighters at the scene were the Sheriff’s Departments, EMS, and Emergency Management Coordinators for both Washington and Burleson County.
