CUBETTES RALLY TO DEFEAT RUDDER 51-44 ON THE ROAD

The Brenham Cubette Basketball Team picked up their second straight district win last (Friday) night as they beat the Rudder Lady Rangers 51-44.

The Cubettes fell behind 23-7 in the first quarter. Both teams scored 10 points each in the second quarter, which allowed Rudder to kept their 16-point lead 33-17 at halftime.

The Brenham offense then exploded in the third quarter for 19 points, while the defense held Rudder to only three points, and the game was tied 36-36 after three quarters.

The Cubettes then outscored the Lady Rangers 15-8 in the fourth quarter to get the victory.

Halle Scheel led the way with 14 points, while Jayde Powell added 13 points. Antyiahna Lang had seven points and Jalayla Hancock finished with six points.

Brenham improves to 12-8 on the season and 2-1 in district. Rudder drops to 9-5 overall and 1-2 in district.

  1. Way to go Cubettes! It was a collaborative effort of a GREAT girls basketball team that refused to give up. They rallied back in the 2nd half and shell shocked the Rudder Lady Rangers. As always the Cubettes had to battle both the opposing team as well as the referees. TEAM work makes the DREAM work!
