GEORGE STRAIT CONCERT AT KYLE FIELD SETS U.S. ATTENDANCE RECORD
George Strait’s concert at Kyle Field in College Station Saturday night made history.
The show now holds the record for the largest attendance at a ticketed concert in the United States, at 110,905 people.
The previous record of 107,019 had stood since 1977, set during a Grateful Dead performance at Raceway Park in New Jersey.
The concert, the first ever at Kyle Field, also broke the stadium’s record for attendance at an event, formerly belonging to the Aggies’ home football game against Ole Miss in 2014 that drew a crowd of 110,663 fans. Officially, the stadium’s capacity is 102,733, but the concert had floor seats and standing-room-only as well.
In addition, Strait set a new personal attendance record for a performance in Texas, which was previously his concert at AT&T Stadium in Arlington in 2014 with an attendance of 104,793.
Opening for Strait on Saturday were New Braunfels native Catie Offerman and Parker McCollum from Conroe.
