FOUR CALLS THURSDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to four calls on Thursday.

Just past noon, units were called to a grass fire in the 5200 block of Spreen Road.  They made location to find a small grass fire and put out the blaze with the Gay Hill Volunteer Fire Department.  All units cleared the scene once the fire was out.

At 3:45 p.m., an alarm call came in to the Blinn College Student Center, 1007 Walter Schwartz Way.  However, the department was cancelled enroute.

Shortly after 4:15 p.m., the department went out to the Brenham Oaks Apartments, 2475 South Chappell Hill Street, for a dumpster fire.  Upon arrival, BFD members found a dumpster fully involved and used handlines and tank water to extinguish the fire.  Once it was put out, they returned to service.

Around 7:15 p.m., firefighters and the City of Brenham Gas Department were dispatched to the 1600 block of Reimer Street for a gas odor.  They checked the area for a leak or smell, and after investigation, the fire department was released from the scene.
