ALL COUNTIES AROUND WASHINGTON CO. UNDER BURN BAN; WASHINGTON CO. TO CONSIDER BAN TUESDAY

  

The area surrounding Washington County is now under a burn ban, but Washington County may soon be under a ban as well.

Grimes County enacted a burn ban today (Thursday).  This follows Lee County instituting a burn ban on Monday, Waller County going into a burn ban last week, and the counties of Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Colorado and Fayette putting bans into effect the week prior.

Washington County is now the only county in the immediate area without a burn ban.  However, Washington County Judge John Durrenberger told KWHI that local fire chiefs were polled today and recommended adopting a burn ban. 

The ban will be voted on by county commissioners on Tuesday.  If approved, it is expected to go into effect on Wednesday.
