SALES TAX REBATES DOWN ACROSS WASHINGTON CO. IN OCTOBER

  

Sales and tax distributions in Washington County were down for the month of October.

Washington County’s rebate this month came out to $355,751, down 4.34 percent from the $371,929 received in October of last year.  So far in 2024, the county has collected $3,841,049, 2.67 percent under the $3,946,721 taken in through this time a year ago.

The City of Brenham took in $744,341 in October, a 9.17 percent decline from last October, when the city’s rebate was $819,490.  The year-to-date totals for the city are still 4.54 percent above where they were last year, at $8,334,993 compared to $7,972,256.

The City of Burton received $8,889 this month, down 9.84 percent from last October’s payment of $9,860.  The city’s collections through 2024 so far sit at $132,297, up 45.69 percent from $90,801 at this time in 2023. 

Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for the month of October, down 1.2 percent from last October, but still up 1.9 percent for the whole year.
