BRENHAM HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER WINS TEXAS VFW TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARD

  

A Brenham High School teacher has been chosen to receive a teacher of the year award from the Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Madison Ruiz is the winner of the 2024-25 VFW Smart/Maher Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year for 9th-12th grades.

Ruiz was nominated by her principal, Michael Watts.  Brenham ISD says the nomination recognizes “her unwavering commitment to her students, school, district, and community.”  The district also says, “We are so proud of her accomplishments and the positive impact she makes every day.”

Ruiz will be honored at the Texas VFW Mid-Winter Conference in Corpus Christi January 17-19, during their annual banquet. 

In addition, as the state winner, Ruiz’ entry now moves on to the National Headquarters for national judging.
