BRENHAM HIGH SCHOOL THEATRE TO PERFORM ‘SPONGEBOB: THE MUSICAL” BEGINNING THURSDAY
Brenham High School’s Cub Company will travel to a pineapple under the sea for its next production, starting tomorrow (Thursday) night.
“SpongeBob: The Musical” will play in the Brenham High School Auditorium from tomorrow to Sunday. Based on the long-running animated series on Nickelodeon, the musical features SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, Sandy Cheeks and many of Bikini Bottom’s other inhabitants as they team up to save the town from an erupting volcano while also contending with one of Plankton’s evil schemes.
Kyle Freeman, who stars as SpongeBob, says the show is part of Cub Company’s “Season of Family” and is entertaining for both kids and adults. He also says the show tackles some important topics, like finding one’s identity.
Lissie Richards, who portrays Sandy, says there is a lot of energy, spirit and drive on display from the students taking part in the production. She says it tells a story of banding together to overcome any obstacle.
Logan Rivas, who plays Patrick, says many of the kids involved in the musical have grown up as fans of the TV show and calls it an honor to be a part of it. He says this performance emphasizes the value of unity through trials and troubles.
Performances are 7 p.m. tomorrow and Friday, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
