WASHINGTON CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE ARRESTS ONE FOR DWI, ANOTHER FOR RECKLESS DRIVING AND NARCOTICS POSSESSION

  

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported one arrest on Tuesday for driving while intoxicated and another on Wednesday for multiple charges, including driving recklessly, tampering and narcotics possession.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Corporal Zavala responded to a reported suspicious vehicle near Duprie Drive and North Park Street in Brenham.  The driver was taken into custody due to displaying signs of intoxication.  21-year-old Javonte Latrell Chapel of Brenham was transported to the Washington County Jail and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

At 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Corporal Zavala observed a reckless driver in the 13000 block of Highway 290 East, traveling at a high rate of speed.  A traffic stop was conducted in the 5000 block of Main Street in Chappell Hill and the driver was detained.  While conducting a vehicle search, the sheriff’s office reported finding several vehicle identification number plates and narcotics.  20-year-old Maksim Labuts of Austin was taken to the Washington County Jail and charged with Reckless Driving, Tampering with Identification Numbers, Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz. and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 4, Less Than 28 Grams.
