BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD TO ADMINISTER OATHS TO NEWLY ELECTED MEMBERS

One returning member of the Brenham School Board and two new members will be sworn in on Monday.

Incumbent Jared Krenek will receive the oath of office for Position 7, while the newly elected Shawn Koonce and Justin Colley will take oaths for Positions 5 and 6, respectively.  Trustees will then elect board officers, including president, vice president and secretary.

The board will then recognize the fine arts and MCJROTC programs, followed by a presentation from the Daughters of the American Revolution to recognize a Brenham High School teacher.  There will then be action on several donation items, as well as updates on legislative and financial matters.

Later in the meeting, trustees will review 2025 preliminary certified property values and discuss the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program.  The CEP, part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, allows schools and school districts in low-income areas to serve free and reduced-price meals without collecting household applications, instead using information from other means-tested programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

An executive session will be held to discuss and possibly approve the naming of an assistant principal for the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program.  Any action will occur in open session.

The board will meet Monday at 6 p.m. in rooms 111 and 113 at Brenham High School.  The meeting will be livestreamed on Brenham ISD’s YouTube channel.
