ROUND TOP TO HOLD 175TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
Round Top is getting ready to put on its 175th Fourth of July Celebration.
Known as the oldest continuous 4th of July celebration west of the Mississippi River, the festivities on Independence Day get underway on the town square at 10 a.m.
The parade will start with the firing of the Round Top Cannon at 10:30 a.m., beginning at the Round Top Rifle Association grounds, going through town and returning to the Rifle Association Hall.
Following the parade, meals of barbecue brisket and sausage will be served at 11:30 a.m. Plates are $16 and will be available for dine-in or to-go. Barbecue will also be sold by the pound at the pit, by pre-order only.
Entertainment will be provided all afternoon by the Round Top Brass Band, Round Top Jam Session and Cool Freddie and the Crew. Additionally, there will be a prize drawing, and tickets can be purchased at Round Top State Bank, Round Top Mercantile or from any Rifle Association member.
