WASHINGTON COUNTY LITTLE LEAGUE ALL STARS WIN 8U SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
On Tuesday, the Washington County Little League All-Stars faced off against the Columbus All-Stars in the 8U Coach Pitch Softball Tournament held in Burton. Washington County emerged victorious, securing the tournament title with a perfect undefeated record. However, the 10-7 win was anything but easy.
Columbus came out strong, playing sharp defense and swinging the bats with confidence to build a 7-2 lead heading into the fourth inning. Washington County stayed within striking distance thanks to solid defense, including two key double plays turned by Jacy Belvin at second base.
In the bottom of the fourth, Washington County's offense came alive with an explosive five-run inning that tied the game at 7-7 heading into the fifth. With momentum on their side, they shut down Columbus in the top of the fifth and added three more runs in the bottom half for a 10-7 lead.
The team then came together for one final defensive stand, recording three quick outs to clinch the win and bring home the championship.
