The Brenham Heritage Museum has announced two pledges totaling $20,000 in support of its upcoming Washington County Sports Exhibit.

The A.R. Pickard Alumni Association has pledged $10,000 toward the Pickard High School section of the exhibit, while Brenham National Bank has contributed $10,000 in support of the Youth Sports section.

Brenham Heritage Museum Interim Executive Director Ciera Harris says these pledges help the museum “tell the full story of sports in Washington County, from youth leagues to historic high school programs.”  She says, “We are incredibly grateful for this support as we work to preserve and share these meaningful stories with our community.”

Exhibit.

The Pickard High School portion of the exhibit will include an overview of the school’s major athletic programs, including baseball, football, basketball, track, and girls’ sports.  The section will highlight when each program began, their accomplishments, and memorable stories from Pickard’s athletic past, with special emphasis on the Prairie View Interscholastic League.

The Youth Sports piece of the exhibit will focus on the history of youth athletics in Washington County, featuring programs such as Little League, soccer, swimming, and other sports that have played an important role in the lives of local children and families.

The museum is still seeking pledges for the sports exhibit, and naming rights for the various sections remain available.  For more information, contact Ciera Harris at director@brenhamheritagemuseum.org
