SHERIFF’S OFFICE REPORTS ARRESTS FOR POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, THEFT WARRANT

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office made three arrests on Tuesday, including two on drug charges and one for a theft warrant.

At 3:30 a.m., Sergeant Corey Himebaugh checked on a suspicious vehicle in the 9000 block of Highway 290 East.  The vehicle showed signs of damage from a possible accident and was parked in a location after business hours.  According to the sheriff’s office, a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle.  Contact was made with the occupants, and a search of the vehicle led to the reported discovery of marijuana, THC concentrates, vapes and drug paraphernalia.  Both occupants were taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail for booking.  19-year-old Cameron Thompson of Missouri City and 19-year-old Albert Dwayne Coney of Houston were each charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2, 4-200 Grams, Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz. and Possession of Tobacco.

Around 10:15 p.m., Corporal Albert Vasquez initiated a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Highway 290 West for failure to stop at a designated stop sign.  The driver, 19-year-old Preston Philip Acayan of Richmond, was found to have an active warrant and was taken into custody.  Acayan was booked at the Washington County Jail for Theft of Property $100 - $750.
