ROAD WORK BEGINNING THURSDAY ON WEST STONE STREET
A section of West Stone Street in Brenham will undergo road work later this week.
The City of Brenham said in a notice today (Monday) that Brazos Paving Inc. will conduct a mill and overlay of the road between Market Street and South Day Street, beginning on Thursday and ending on Friday. Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Per the notice, workers will grind along the edges of the road before applying a thin asphalt overlay, which the city said will be much quicker than a full road reconstruction while adding a new asphalt surface and helping rideability.
The segment of roadway on West Stone Street between Market Street and South Day Street will be shut down to thru traffic during the work hours. Staff will assist residents with accessing driveways.
Drivers are asked to be patient with the work crews and work zones, and to follow the detour signs and road closure signs. Nearby residents who have sprinkler systems in their yards are asked to turn them off by tomorrow (Tuesday) evening, so that water does not end up in the roadway and cause issues while paving.
