Three members of the Brenham Police Department have been promoted to new positions within the department.

Brenham Police Department just completed a rigorous process to select the most qualified persons to fill several positions within the department; a fair and impartial method was designed to ensure those chosen were leaders as well as managers.

Officers promoting to sergeant are Seth Klehm and Justin Schiller. Lloyd Powell promoted to the position of captain.

“The selection process was developed to achieve the objectives of choosing the best candidate in a fair and impartial manner. It contained elements that evaluated reasoning, writing and public speaking skills as well as leadership and managerial qualities,” said

Qualified applicants submitted a letter of intent along with a resume, and prepared a power point presentation as well as participated in a leaderless exercise. The final step, an oral board interview, was conducted by members of the Command Staff and law enforcement personnel from other departments.

“I want to personally thank each of the candidates for a job well done and for the hard work exhibited. This department has a tremendous amount of talent, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to be part of this awesome organization and work with such wonderful people,” Goodman said.

The promotions will be effective at the end of the month, with a promotion ceremony taking place during a City Council meeting in
