YEGUA CREEK PARK OPENS THIS WEEKEND AFTER FLOODING

  

After being closed for four months, Yegua Creek Park will open to visitors this weekend.

The park closed in May after the spring flooding caused Lake Somerville to be closed for fishing and recreation. While many of the parks surrounding the Lake remain closed, Lake Somerville Marina and Campground and Welch Park are open for camping and day use. Now, Yegua Creek Park will be added to the list of facilities that are open.

National Resource Specialist, Russell Meyer, says the plan is to open the park this Saturday:

Lake Somerville has eleven boat ramps in total. Boat ramps that are open this weekend include: Apache Hills, Birch Creek Forest Subdivision, Lake Somerville Marina, Welch Park and Yegua Creek Park. Ramps that are still closed include: Birch Creek State Park, Rocky Creek Park and Big Creek Park, while Nails Creek State Park is partially closed.
