FAYETTE COUNTY THEFT INVESTIGATION LEADS TO DRUG ARREST
A Smithville man was arrested Monday night after a theft investigation led to the discovery of drugs.
At approximately 1 a.m., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Lavaca County Sheriff’s office about a theft that had occurred at the Wal-Mart in Hallettsville.
La Grange Police responded to the location and found a vehicle that matched the description of the car used in the theft. When deputies conducted a traffic stop, they observed multiple Wal-Mart boxes. Consent was given to search the vehicle, and deputies found a baggie that tested positive for Methamphetamine.
The driver, 25-year-old Dillion Baucum, was taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
