BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL APPROVES FINAL PAYMENT FOR HOHLT PARK REPAIR
The Brenham City Council approved the final payment for the Hohlt Park Trail reconstruction during their meeting today (Thursday).
In an August meeting, the council approved the contract with Collier Construction for $144,200. However, the project involved one change order concerning the pedestrian bridge behind the amphitheater.
Brenham Public Works Director Dan Rau said the work would have been part of the original contract, but due to the geotechnical report not meeting the bid deadline it had to be handled through a change order. The work, which included erosion control, the addition of cement, soil retention blanketing and re-seeding, cost an additional $4,987. That change brings the total cost of the reconstruction to $149,187. Rau says he estimates that 75-percent of the cost will be covered by FEMA.
In other business, the city council approved a new policy manual for the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library. Librarian Andria Heiges said there were some changes to the previous manual, including a change to the library card policy. All Texas residents will now be able to obtain a library card. Heiges explains why they need this policy:
The library, which is 25 percent larger than the old, features meeting rooms and gaming room that required additions to the policy manual as well.
