BLINN TO OFFER STUDENTS FOUR COURSE FORMATS IN FALL
As part of Blinn College’s Back With Blinn plan to safety return to classes for the fall, the College is offering students a choice between four course formats.
Students can choose between four primary course options for when the fall semester begins August 24th: Live Online, Traditional with Live Online, Blended with Live Online, and Flexible Online. These options feature either a mix of in-person and online instruction, or courses that are entirely online.
In Live Online classes, all class participation takes place via live videoconference at scheduled class times. This format connects students live with their professors and peers without travelling to campus.
Traditional with Live Online separates students into groups of approximately 10-15 students. During their assigned face-to-face class time, students meet on campus with their instructors while wearing facemasks and following social distancing guidelines. The remaining students participate via a live videoconference, allowing them to interact with their instructors and peers. To participate, students need a computer—not a Chromebook, tablet, or smartphone—along with a webcam and microphone.
Blended with Live Online courses have students rotating between attending class on campus and participating via live videoconference during scheduled class times. Additionally, more than half of the course content, including lectures and activities, is delivered online for students to engage with on their own schedule.
The Flexible Online format put courses entirely online, requiring no traditional face-to-face meetings. Students who choose to take Flexible Online courses still have access to campus computer labs, writing and learning centers, and other campus resources. Some classes may require in-person test proctoring.
