BRENHAM FAMILY FEATURED IN NY TIMES REPORT
A Brenham family was recently featured in a report from a national publication.
Friday, The New York Times’ Manny Fernandez, the newspaper’s Houston bureau chief, featured Jordan Spahn, Summer Mossbarger, and their six children. The report showcased the family’s struggle to make sure its children are fed while having few work opportunities.
The family is one of many receiving free meals from Brenham ISD, who is offering drive-thru lunches and breakfasts while the doors to its schools are closed.
Spahn and his family are no strangers to struggle and heartbreak, losing sons Matthew and Jonah in separate accidents just months apart. The story of Matthew, who as an organ donor saved five lives with seven of his organs, also received attention from the national media.
Spahn has since launched a GoFundMe page to help support his family, which as of this (Saturday) morning raised $11,330, surpassing a goal of $10,000.
