BRENHAM ISD SUSPENDS DRIVE-THRU MEAL SITES AFTER POTENTIAL COVID-19 EXPOSURE
Brenham ISD has suspended all drive-thru meal sites after learning an employee may have been exposed to COVID-19.
A news release from the school district late Tuesday said an individual in the child nutrition department serving at the Alton Elementary School and Brenham High School meal delivery sites is now under self-quarantine, although the district stressed the employee has not tested positive for COVID-19.
As a precaution, all child nutrition staff operating the sites have been notified and asked to self-quarantine for 14 days. The district said the meal sites will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
District officials said, because of the social distancing measures in place, the public’s exposure was limited, and those who received meals or volunteered should not be at increased risk. All staff and volunteers wear gloves when packing food into bags and when handing the bags out.
The district apologized for the immediate change, and said while there is no confirmation yet on the diagnosis of the employee, it does not want to take any chances regarding the safety and well-being of staff, families, and the community.
