CELEBRATION SATURDAY FOR GRIMES CO. COURTHOUSE’S 125TH BIRTHDAY

The Grimes County Courthouse is celebrating its 125th birthday.

In honor of the event, the community is invited to a birthday celebration tomorrow (Saturday) at the courthouse in Anderson.

The free birthday celebration will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will feature a variety of activities such as a pancake breakfast, an antique car exhibit with vehicles from the turn of the century, guided tours of the courthouse, a historic display inside the courtroom, kids’ korner, hot dogs, and an ice cream social courtesy of Blue Bell Creameries.  There will also be cake and cupcakes provided by Cakes by Blondie.

Music will be provided by a barbershop quartet and a brass band.  Dignitaries at the event will include State Senator Charles Schwertner.  The day will end with the dedication of a time capsule to be sealed for 25 years, which will be opened at the courthouse’s 150th birthday.
