PENA TO REQUEST ‘SHOCK PROBATION’

(Austin Co. Jail)
The former Tax Assessor-Collector for Austin County is requesting leniency in his sentence for theft.
Marcus Pena will appear in the Bellville Courthouse, August 27th for a public hearing where he will request ‘shock probation’.
Pena was sentenced in March to ten years in prison and ordered to pay $275,000 restitution for stealing money from the county and misusing tax payer dollars.
According to District Attorney Travis Koehn, Pena may request shock probation as a defendant who was sentenced to 10 years or less and completed six months of his sentence.
The 40-year old Pena lost his reelection bid to current Tax Assessor-Collector Kim Rinn, who discovered the discrepancies once she took office.
