HOHLT PARK CROSSOVER NATURE TRAIL OPENS
A new addition to Brenham’s park system was formally unveiled this (Friday) morning.

Parks & Wildlife and the community cut the ribbon
for the new crossover nature trail at Hohlt Park.
City of Brenham and Washington County Chamber of Commerce officials gathered for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of Hohlt Park’s crossover nature trail. Featuring 0.59 miles of walkable paths, the trail system showcases various environments like bog/wetland areas, grassy fields, forested areas and pollinator gardens.
City of Brenham Public Works Director Dane Rau said it is a privilege to be able to provide the community with a new educational and recreational experience.
The entrance to the nature trail is located behind the Dr. Bobbie M. Dietrich Memorial Amphitheatre, via a bridge connecting to the walking/jogging trail. Stationed along the path are signs that educate visitors about the different types of plants and animals they may encounter.
Design on the project began in 2019. Work at the site took place from February to June and was performed by local contractors Collier Construction and Robinson Landcare. It was paid for using a grant from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department along with funding from the Brenham Community Development Corporation, using proceeds from local sales taxes.
Brenham Mayor Atwood Kenjura said the nature trail is a “great asset” and that Brenham’s parks for a city of its size are “second to none.”
