WALLER CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE WARNING OF POSSIBLE POLICE IMPERSONATOR

The Waller County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public after receiving a report of a possible police impersonator.

The Sheriff’s Office says a driver was pulled over in the 25000 block of Joseph Road, near FM 1488, around 10 p.m. Saturday.  According to the Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle that pulled over the driver was described as possibly a Dodge Charger, not featuring any law enforcement markings but equipped with red and blue emergency lights.

The driver said she was approached by a man with a gun drawn and ordered out of her vehicle.  She instead took off, driving to a family member’s home.  The Sheriff’s Office said the vehicle may have followed her to the neighborhood, but did not go in.

The Sheriff’s Office said it knows the vehicle in question does not belong to it, and believes this could be a situation of someone impersonating an officer.  It said the organization does not make traffic stops using unmarked vehicles, adding that its vehicles are “clearly and plainly marked” and that deputies wear “clearly identifiable uniforms.”

Anyone with information or who has had a similar experience is asked to call 911 or Waller County dispatchers at 979-826-8282.
