WASHINGTON CO. CHIEF APPRAISER WILLY DILWORTH RETIRING

After a 35-year career in appraisal, Washington County’s longtime chief appraiser has announced his retirement.
Willy Dilworth announced his retirement Monday after serving as chief appraiser of the county since January 1, 2002. His retirement is effective December 31st.
Dilworth says he will miss many things about his position, but mostly the staff and the people he has worked with and come to know over the years.
Dilworth began his career in appraisal April 1, 1985. Prior to coming to Washington County, he served as chief appraiser in San Jacinto County.
Dilworth joked that he might not have always been the most popular person in the county, but said he always strived to do right by those he worked with.
As Washington County contracts with Brenham ISD for all of the services related to the appraisal district, the school district will head up the search for a new chief appraiser.
The Brenham School Board will hold a special meeting Thursday at 5:15 p.m. to consider hiring a search firm to help the district with the search. The meeting will be held in rooms 111 and 113 at Brenham High School.
