TEN TEXAS UNIVERSITIES AMONG WORLD’S BEST

  

An international ranking of top universities named nine Texas schools among the top 500, including four in the top 100 and four Houston area institutions.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities began in 2003 and is published by the Center for World-Class Universities.

Research initiatives play a key component in the compilation of the list: more than half of the Texas schools ranked are medical centers.

Making the list from the Lone Star State are: 39-University of Texas-Austin; 45-Universityof Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas; 82-Rice University; 96-Texas A&M.

Also among the top-150 are: Baylor College of Medicine; and, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Among the top-500 are: University of Texas Health Center Houston; University of Houston; Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio and, University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston.

The top five institutions on the list are: 1-Harvard; 2-Stanford; 3-Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 4-California-Berkley and 5-Princeton.
