BRENHAM FD HAS A BUSY WEDNESDAY

The Brenham Fire Department was kept busy Wednesday with a number of calls.

Just after 8:30, firefighters were called to vehicle fire at the Knights Inn, in the 200 block of Highway 290 East.

Upon arrival, they found a 1996 Buick with a fire in the engine compartment extending into the passenger compartment.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, but most of the vehicle sustained heavy damage to the engine compartment and passenger compartment.  There were no injuries.

Just before 7:30 last (Wednesday) night, the department responded to 705 Pleasant View Ave. for a report of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found light smoke coming from the duplex and BFD forced entry into the residence.  BFD found that a skillet was left on the stove with burning grease.  BFD ventilated the residence and did not find anyone to be home.

The resident had gone to the store and left the stove on causing the smoke.

The fire department was also dispatched to several false alarms and a controlled burn.

They were also called out to a possible structure fire that turned out to be a man barbequing on his porch.
