The Houston Texans had planned on cutting back up QB TJ Yates, but when word spread across the league many teams contacted the team about possible trades. The Texans instead decided to trade Yates to the Atlanta Falcons. In return the Texans will receive former 3rd round pick LB Akeem Dent.

Yates started and won the Texans first ever playoff game two years ago when starter Matt Schaub was hurt. He then fell behind Case Keenum on the depth chart last year and newly acquired Ryan Fitzpatrick was named this years starter.

Dent was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons, from the Georgia Bulldogs, in the third round of the 2011 draft. He appeared in 15 games last season with seven starts.
