TRAIN – TRUCK ACCIDENT HALTS AFTERNOON TRAFFIC

  

Traffic was backed up at a Brenham train-crossing this (Wednesday) afternoon, and one person was hospitalized, after a train struck a vehicle at the crossing on FM-109, near U.S. Highway 36 South.

According to Department of Public Safety Sgt. Jimmy Morgan, the accident occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m., when a 2001 Dodge pickup skidded through the crossing arms and into the Burlington Northern/Santa Fe train.

The driver, whose name has not been released, suffered various injuries and was taken by Washington County EMS ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan.

The crossing has been closed down to traffic as the Texas Department of Transportation and BN/SF officials are conducting their investigation.
