TWO CITED FOR POACHING IN FAYETTE COUNTY

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Tuesday at approximately 11:00 p.m. Fayette County Dispatch received a call in reference to shots being fired off the roadway in the Plum area.

Deputy Darrell Maze was dispatched and responded to the area, and was able to locate a vehicle which the shots were being fired from, due to the help of the complainant in the case.  The vehicle in question was located at a residence but Deputy Maze was unable to get anyone to come out of the residence.

Deputy Maze located a Doe Deer in the rear of the vehicle that had been shot.  Deputy Michael Otten responded to the area to assist.  Captain Erik Nygren with Texas Parks and Wildlife was contacted and he also responded to the location.

Two male individuals finally exited the residence and admitted to shooting the deer.  Captain Nygren seized rifles and spot lights and issued the two individuals citations for poaching.

Sheriff Korenek reminds citizens to contact the Sheriff’s Office of any illegal deer hunting activities.

The people that were cited were not hunters. Poachers and thieves illegally take wildlife, not deer hunters.

    1. Couldn’t have said it better myself Joe. Poacher’s should be punished. Nice work Deputy Maze!
