BLINN PROFESSOR OUTLINES QUALITY ENHANCEMENT PLAN
Mary Barnes Tilley, the Social Sciences Department Chair at Blinn College that often students, in addition to taking basic courses, need to learn how to go to college itself.
She said that’s where the Quality Enhancement Plan becomes important. Dr. Tilley said a QEP planning team was formed among faculty and staff and they began to identify the plan, and carry out its goals. Those goals focus on improving the success rates for first year students, especially in freshman history, English, Biology and Math. This plan include an Early Alert to identify students having problems with their first year courses, have a first year experience and orientation course, and put students in Learning Communities. These communities gather students in similar courses to work together for a full and successful learning experience.
Tilley said she was inspired with plan with an emphasis on student success
