ARREST IN FAYETTE CO. AFTER SHOOTING INCIDENT

  

One person has been arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault of a Family Member after a shooting incident in Fayette County.  Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that Fayette County Dispatch received a call from a subject who stated he was shot in the face.  Deputies responded to a residence on Bittner Road in the Flatonia area of Fayette County Wednesday evening. When deputies arrived, they were advised by the victim, that he and the suspect were involved in a dispute and the suspect took a pistol and fired shots toward him.  The victim was hit in the face with flying glass but was not hit by the bullets.

The investigation led to the arrest of Shonda Lynn Merlo, 47 of Muldoon on charges of aggravated assault family violence, a first degree felony.  Investigating officers in the incident were Deputies Kenneth Kretz and Daitwan Walker, with assistant from Department of Public Safety Trooper John Mieth and Fayette County Constable PCT. #1 William Roensch.

Merlo was transported to the Fayette County Jail.  The victim was transported to Smithville hospital by Fayette County E.M.S.
