WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO CONTINUE TALKS ON EXPO SITE, PROPOSED MULTI-USE FACILITY
Washington County Commissioners will continue discussion Tuesday on proposed projects at the Washington County Expo site.
PlanNorth Principal Architect Katie Burch will return to lead a discussion on the Expo grounds and the multipurpose facility that will appear on the ballot in November as a bond measure.
At the court’s last meeting, Burch reviewed a slate of possible uses for the weather-protected venue. Those include community and private events, festivals, dances, band practices, graduations, agriculture-related shows and educational programs, cutting events, trade shows, rodeos, livestock sales and auctions, equipment demonstrations, farmers markets, craft fairs, job fairs and the county fair. Additionally, it could be used as an emergency shelter and for disaster response staging and first responder training.
In other business, commissioners will act on hiring an EMS Division Chief – Compliance for the EMS Department for a pay rate exceeding the 6 percent allowable amount in accordance with county policy.
Also on Tuesday, commissioners will:
- Consider a memorandum of understanding between EMS and the Brazos Valley Regional Advisory Council (BVRAC) regarding EMS provider responsibilities and requirements for participation in the BVRAC prehospital whole blood program.
- Take up a correction to the new elections office address at the Washington County Courthouse Annex, updating it from 105 West Main Street, Suite 100 to Suite 101.
- Vote on budget amendments and line-item transfers.
- Read a proclamation declaring October 5-11 as Texas Extension Education Association Week.
Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
