VOLUNTEER SERVICES COUNCIL RECEIVES $500,000 DONATION

The Volunteer Services Council for the Brenham State Supported Living Center received a half million dollar donation this (Thursday) morning.  The donation was given by Larry Lawson of the Woodlands and is the largest single donation ever received by the Volunteer Services Council.  The donation will be used to construct an adaptive sports complex at the Brenham State Supported Living Center.

Kristie Wensel, Community Relations Director, explains the complex:

The sports complex will be named after Mr. Lawson’s sister, Hazel, who lived at the Brenham Stated Supported Living Center for many years. It will be open to participants through the Miracle League and other organizations serving children and adults with special needs in Brenham and surrounding communities.  The local city parks crew and Little League Association will have the opportunity to utilize the field during inclement weather.
